Thruxton BTCC: Andrew Jordan ends win drought with race-two victory

Andrew Jordan took his first win in the British Touring Car Championship since June 2014 with victory the second race of the weekend at Thruxton

The Motorbase Performance Ford Focus man tracked polesitter Adam Morgan's Ciceley Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class over the opening period of the 12-lap event in Hampshire before pouncing at the start of lap 11.

He used a superior exit from the chicane to slice inside Morgan into Allard corner.

Morgan tried to fight back on the entry into the Complex, but he was backed up on the inside line into the right-hander, and that allowed Rob Collard to power his WSR BMW 125i M Sport into second place with a great move.

Morgan held on to third, while the drive of the race came from race-one casualty Gordon Shedden.

Having started 23rd, he sliced his Team Dynamics Honda Civic Type-R through the field and surged ahead of Jack Goff's WSR BMW 125i M Sport going into Church corner on the final lap to claim fourth place.

Behind Goff was his WSR team-mate Sam Tordoff. Series returnee Dan Lloyd (Eurotech Racing Honda Civic Type R) picked up seventh when team-mate Martin Depper suffered a late puncture.

Jordan's team-mate Mat Jackson was eighth after another strong drive through the pack, while Dan Welch equaled his result in race one with ninth in his Proton Persona at the flag and will start race three from pole with the top nine positions reversed.

Rob Austin's Handy Motorsport Toyota Avensis rounded out the top 10, while the second Team Dynamics Honda of Matt Neal also came from the back of the grid for 11th.
