It's been quite a day in Barcelona so here is a snapshot of the opening day's top stories:
* Pastor Maldonado ensured Lotus finished top of the pile on day one with a best time of 1m25.011s on the softs.
* McLaren may not be able to run a full programme until Saturday as Honda needs to redesign an MGU-K component.
* Lewis Hamilton completed just 11 laps before abandoning his running through illness; Nico Rosberg could not replace him because the German has an inflamed nerve in his neck.
* Mercedes recalled Pascal Wehrlein from Force India to replace the 2014 world champion; Sergio Perez came in for the German.
* Susie Wolff and Felipe Nasr ended up in the same gravel trap at the same time after contact, which brought out the red flag.
* Manor's hopes of returning to the Formula 1 grid received another boost after its creditors agreed to bring the company out of administration.

As the Sauber is collected on the recovery truck, the chequered flag is on the screens and Thursday's running is officially done.
The Sauber is parked at an angle where the CCTV can't quite locate it, we can just see marshals and a recovery truck on site.
The clock continues to count down under the red flag, so we may as well declare this 'day over'.
Verstappen is now back in the pits too, so that confirms it's Nasr's repaired Sauber that needs retrieving.
The computer system picks Nasr as the culprit, stopped at Turn 9.

And we've got a late red flag, which is likely to bring today to an end.
Into the final five minutes, still got Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Nasr, Verstappen and Wehrlein running, though no one is improving at present.

As the day draws to a close on track, away from Barcelona there's been some good news for the Manor team this afternoon:

Verstappen has now overhauled Wolff for the highest lap tally of the day - he's onto his 90th, she's now trailing on 85.
Also on track: Wehrlein, Ricciardo and Verstappen.
Wolff comes back out. Nasr has finished his run though, so they won't trip over each other again.

Wehrlein improves to a 1m28.489s so is now just a tenth down on 'himself' in his Force India stint. He remains ninth.
Raikkonen's brought his own 12-lap run on the medium Pirellis to an end, and Ferrari should be happy with that.
The Finn's laptimes were very consistent comparative to Wehrlein's, and quicker as well.

Nasr now does a 1m27.6s, three tenths off the time he topped the morning with. He's on medium tyres.
Nasr begins his run with a 1m29s, then a 1m28.3s then includes a personal best in the final sector.
Wehrlein comes into the pits, ending what we count as a 12-lap run.
Here's a shot from our XPB colleagues showing that Ricciardo hasn't been holding back today. At least one of those 'cooling-down' laps was prompted by a bit of an error.

Raikkonen has caught and passed Wehrlein on track, and that's quite symbolic.
The two look to be on very similar runs, and the Ferrari's laptimes are more impressive.

If you're just joining us, Sauber had a hefty repair to carry out after Nasr and Wolff collided early this afternoon.

Wehrlein is improving on his speed trap figures but not his sector times, and remains half a second off what he did in the Force India earlier.
The Toro Rosso is just running and running today - the first time a Renault-engined car has been able to do so. Verstappen completes lap 75.
We were slightly hoping Raikkonen was out for a glory run to depose Maldonado, but he's on mediums and doing 1m29s.
Another slight improvement from Wehrlein, as he does a string of 1m28.8s and 1m28.9s on hard tyres. Meanwhile Raikkonen has rejoined.
Wehrlein does his best lap in the Mercedes yet, a 1m28.933s. But he stays 10th and 0.6s off his twin in the Force India earlier.
Maldonado does get back up to speed, but only to a 1m26s. Perez and Wehrlein are back out too.
Maldonado backs off to a 1m33s next time around, but is he going for another push on the following lap?

Maldonado jumps to the top of the times, using softs to go a tenth faster than Raikkonen.
Ricciardo is back in, Maldonado sets off, and Verstappen completes his 65th lap of the day in this long, smooth run.
Ricciardo does a personal best first sector and sets a new speed trap benchmark, and is two tenths off his current top time around the lap.
Watch out for Ricciardo again now - he does a 1m25.597s, just 0.050s off his previous best - and is fastest of all in the final sector too.
Verstappen comes in for a brief pitstop then rejoins, and Ricciardo sets off too on another set of softs.
